Hours: 37 hours*

*A degree of flexibility in relation to working hours will be required to meet the operation requirements of the department.  As an equal opportunities employer the university, where possible, tries to consider all flexible working requests, it should be noted that due to the nature of this role it is imperative that operatives are available to work between the hours 08.00- 18.00. There is a requirement to work 14 weekend days contractual overtime per annum to meet operational requirements.

Overview of role and team

Due to expansion within our Estates Team we are looking to recruit a Carpenter (Maintenance Tradesperson), you will work as part of a team of tradespeople and maintenance operatives under the guidance of a Maintenance Team leader, you will be part of the successful delivery of a reactive and planned maintenance service for all users of the University facilities.

In this position you will work towards delivering the very best customer service from a temporary repair to a project placing the user’s needs at the foremost of every job completed.

Estate Services are based within the Facilities Department, which covers a wide range of services within University of Worcester, including Halls of Residence, Security, Cleaning, Campus Services, Grounds, Reception and Hospitality. The University Estate operates over a number of different campuses with a GIA of approximately 80,000m2. The Estate offers a varied and challenging work load and the ability to solve problems and work under pressure at times is essential.

Essential person criteria

Applications are welcomed from those who hold an NVQ Level 2 (Carpentry related) or equivalent. You will need to be Asbestos Awareness and Working at Height/PASMA qualified. You will need to have experience of delivering pre-planned works to include kitchen fitting, completing door repairs and installing fire doors.

We are looking for someone who has good customer service skills and ability to work well within a team.
