Commencing December 2018 or as soon as possible

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary £38,014 - £40,723 per annum

Hereward College is a general further education college located in Coventry.  We offer inclusive provision with specialist facilities for students with a wide range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Safeguarding & Pastoral Care Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge base of safeguarding and safeguarding legislation and be currently operating as a Deputy or Designated Safeguarding Lead.  Experience of working with young people, with special educational needs and disabilities would be an advantage. 

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills who will be responsible for ensuring that we have effective safeguarding practices for all our young people.  You will be a lateral thinker with a strategic vision but with operational focus, working closely with professionals and key stakeholders to ensure a quality service.

You will line manage a small team, ensuring that the day to day delivery of safeguarding and pastoral care is seamless.  You will be responsible for the design and delivery of safeguarding training to parents, students and staff as required.  You will have the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with learners and staff, liaising with cross college teams to promote and maintain a positive safeguarding culture.  You should be able to combine your workload in demanding situations.

You will hold a Level 2 Safeguarding qualification, a relevant degree, together with Level 2 qualifications (GCSE Grade A – C) or equivalent in English and Maths.  If you are unable to evidence this, you will be required to undertake an assessment to demonstrate that you are operating at level 2 in both subjects.
