It is an exciting time for care leavers in Shropshire. In addition to filling an existing vacancy, Shropshire Council is investing in the leaving care service by creating two additional posts. We are now seeking three highly skilled and motivated Personal Advisers to help us to:
• Implement our local offer to care leavers
• Fulfil our new duties to 21-25-year olds
• Create specialisms in the team to improve participation and accommodation options
• Provide increased involvement with 16-17-year olds
• Reduce overall caseloads
You will be based at The Vicarage, Shirehall, a self-contained building in Shrewsbury which is easily accessible to young people. You will support care leavers to develop their independence skills in preparation for adulthood and living independently in the community, carry out our statutory responsibilities in keeping with policies and procedures and work with other agencies and organisations to achieve the best outcomes for those leaving care in Shropshire.
You will need to demonstrate a significant level of experience in a related field and strong advocacy and engagement skills. You will be able to plan effectively, manage a demanding caseload and ensure that young people benefit from the best support available from you and the wider community. We are proud of our service which is built on a stable staff and management team that encourages young people to contribute to the development of the service.
Shropshire Council is an agile organisation that embraces innovation to address the changing requirements of the Council, the workforce and the community with the aim to improve the quality of life of all local people at its heart.
