We’re changing lives - Join us so together we can change even more

We are looking for great people to join our existing teams in order to make a difference for the children and families we work with and to achieve the very best we can. We are proud of the team spirit which exists in our teams and across our service and having supportive colleagues around you is what makes a difference. With this in mind, if you think this is you, we would encourage to join us on our journey to improve children and families lives in Herefordshire.

Our priority in Herefordshire is to keep children safe and give them a great start in life. It’s the priority for the council, our partners and for all of us who work in Children’s Wellbeing.

How do we do this? By having dynamic, dedicated, passionate and professional staff who work in a culture that focuses on what we can achieve with children, what they can achieve themselves, and the relationship we build with families and partners to enable this.

Herefordshire has a really strong team ethos. Our teams are passionate about the work they do and the positive difference they and the teams they are in make to people’s lives. This is all underpinned by the focus and support from their managers and the council as a whole.

Our offer to you.

We’re investing in your success. Here, we’ll give you all of the support required to qualify to pass your ASYE and build on your degree with solid experience.
We won’t just be there when you need us. We’ll be by your side from the very beginning of your journey, guiding you step-by-step through to qualification.
In addition to access to our structured CPD programme and the support you’ll get in your ASYE you will be given a personal learning budget. Our individual learning account scheme gives you access to a dedicated fund to spend on your professional and personnel development.
What you’ll do
Working at the heart of our children’s services team, you will conduct a range of important assessments, including Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children cases. You’ll be involved in these from start to finish, planning, reviewing and delivering support. At the same time, we’ll provide you with expert assistance as you complete your ASYE course.
What we’re looking for
•A newly qualified (or about to be qualified) social worker, registered with the HCPC
•Willingness to learn and get stuck into development opportunities, including our well established ASYE course
•Strong communication skills, allowing you to explain complex information in ways that are easy to understand.

Apply

We understand that you may have questions, or simply want to speak one of the team to find out more about working here. That’s why we have a dedicated in-house adviser on hand to talk to you, or support you with your application. Simply contact Paul Rooney, Principal Social Worker on 01432 260680 and he’ll be in touch as soon as possible. We interview and appoint newly qualified social workers through-out the year.
