Solihull Community Housing is seeking a dynamic, driven and resourceful individual with the ability to work from their own initiative to join the Housing Options team. This opportunity will enable the successful candidate to get involved with developing the service in line with new legislation regarding homelessness.
The role will require you to exercise confidentiality, and a high level of professionalism, as well as the ability to deal with highly sensitive information affecting vulnerable people.
Key responsibilities will include:
The post holder will be responsible for the prevention of homelessness, and for providing good quality telephone and face to face advice to members of the public who have a housing need or who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
The role will include making some statutory decisions regarding homelessness in accordance with current legislation, and taking proactive steps to reduce rough sleeping, and dealing with tenancy issues in the private rented sector.
The successful candidate will need to have experience of working in a housing advice/homelessness environment, possess good customer service skills, and be able to work under pressure.
The role will also require the post holder to utilise the housing register and nomination agreements with registered providers, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to use MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
