Due to the arrival of a new pupil with complex needs, we are recruiting to our team two people with the compassion to work with a Year 1 pupil with severe communication issues and autistic spectrum disorders.

You will be required to work in pairs with specialist guidance to enable the pupil to gain an EHCP which will enable him to access a specialist unit. The child has extremely supportive parents who accept his complex needs and want him to attend a specialist unit.

The successful candidates will work within our primary school setting to enable the pupil to access an individual learning plan.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • experience of working as a Teaching Assistant within  KS1
  • experience of communication & interaction needs, especially autistic spectrum disorders
  • knowledge of safeguarding procedures in school
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work as part of a team with ability to also show initiative
  • commitment to helping children learn and make good progress

Experience of working with individuals with communication and interaction needs including autistic spectrum disorders would be an advantage. We recognise that the candidates will be supporting an individual pupil with autistic spectrum disorders within the school environment. Therefore, applications from individuals who have expertise working with ASD in other settings are also welcomed.

We are happy to discuss the nature of this role and the nature of the pupils who attend our school. Candidates can contact Pauline James, Head Teacher or Rachel Matthews, SENCO on 01827 213970.

The position is open to experienced staff, and subject to 2 satisfactory references and enhanced DBS Check. Applications can only be accepted on the official Staffordshire Application Forms attached.
