We are recruiting into the newly formed post of Commercial Manager, a highly commercial role where you will have strong emphasis on strategic leadership and business development.

You will be asked to develop a vision for our business which delivers our growth aspirations, and be able to plan to successfully achieve it. Further, you will have leadership skills, resilience and enthusiasm to execute the plan, taking the full team with you all the way.

In return for your commitment to our business and your effective P&L management, you will be well supported in the role by senior managers and commercial leaders within our organisation.

You will get the opportunity to be innovative and inventive, with support to develop and execute ideas that drive our business forwards.

Although leadership and/or Mechanical and Electrical experience would be a benefit, to be successful in this role you will be positive and enthusiastic, with the persona, gravitas and personal awareness to be a highly effective business leader.

If you are an experienced business leader, or you are reaching upper limits of middle-management with experience of business development, then this could be the role that stretches your capability and gives you the experience to really accelerate your career.

You’ll need:

- Ideally experienced in or an understanding of Facilities /service Management
- Staff management and development skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills, confident and able to deal with people at all levels.
- Able to manage and co-ordinate contractors, stakeholders and suppliers and maintain good working relationships.
- Strong financial and Budget Management skills
- Proven success in business development
- Educated to degree level

The Directorate looks after sports and arts and events, helping city people enjoy their leisure time and bringing people into the city centre to support economic growth, as well as managing the Council's Operational and Commercial property portfolios.
