Our children would like us to appoint a Headteacher who is kind, joyful, a little strict and puts them first!

We are looking to appoint a motivated and inspirational leader who can take the school on the next step of its journey following the retirement of our Headteacher. This person must be passionate about the education and development of every pupil and have a commitment to working with the whole school community in continuing to raise standards in teaching and learning. The teaching commitment would be a maximum of 0.2.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is dedicated, adaptable and understands and promotes the caring ethos of a family orientated village school.
  • Is an outstanding teacher with a sound understanding in all areas of the key stages of the primary school curriculum.
  • Is committed to all aspects of children’s development and education and will focus on each child as an individual to ensure their maximum progress and achievement of their full potential.
  • Has excellent leadership and management skills and will inspire and lead our enthusiastic staff with a commitment to developing them as teachers and supporting them with their work.
  • Is a good communicator who can engage with governors, parents and the wider community.
  • Is warm and caring with a sense of humour.
  • Is excited about having the opportunity to work with our committed team to create an outstanding school for our children.

We can offer you a school with:

  • A welcoming atmosphere and a great Christian ethos, where children feel safe and secure.
  • A happy and friendly working environment, which will give you the chance to develop your role and career.
  • Children who are happy, confident and eager to learn and have a real pride in their school.
  • Highly professional, caring and conscientious staff who are dedicated to nurturing every child and improving the school in all areas.
  • An active and supportive Governing Body which is committed to working with the Head teacher in developing the school.
  • Supportive parents who are engaged with the school community.
  • An idyllic location with an amazing view from your desk!

An Overview

Upper Arley Church of England Primary school is a small village school set in beautiful countryside, overlooking the river and steam railway of the Severn Valley in North Worcestershire.

Our strong Christian character is reflected in our SIAMS report from 2016 which rated us ‘Good’ and noted that “Christian values permeate the school and create an ethos that enables children to achieve academically and socially.”

Our Ofsted Inspection of 2016 judged us to be ‘Requiring Improvement’ and the Headteacher, all staff and governors have worked hard to take on board advice and put in place carefully considered measures to improve in the required areas. Subsequent reviews, including by HMI, have been very positive.

We are proud of our recent achievements and are looking for an inspirational and creative Head who will work with our dedicated staff and governors to continue this momentum and build on our schools’ strengths, whilst striving for our continued improvement.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS clearance.

Successful candidates may be visited at their current place of work.

We would be delighted if you visited us so you can see for yourself why we are so proud of our children, staff and school.  We will be taking visits on 10th or !7th January 2019.

Please contact the school.

Closing date: Monday, 21st January 2019 12 noon
Shortlisting:    Wednesday, 30th January 2019
Interviews:      13th and 14th February 2019
