Job Details

The Mobile, Home Delivery and Transport Team is a key part of our thriving Libraries and One Stop Shop service. We provide deliveries of books, post and other materials to our 19 WCC and 12 Community Managed Libraries and OSSs across the county ensuring customers receive the best possible service. Our team also provides the Mobile Library Service, Home Delivery Service and book deliveries to care homes, nurseries and schools across the area. 

The Role

One of a team of 4 van drivers providing a daily delivery service to our libraries, you will be responsible for ensuring the stock and resources in your care reach their destination in good order and in a timely fashion. You will be loading and unloading crates of books, leaflets and other materials and supporting staff with furniture moves and other transportation needs. Whilst you will often be out in the van on your own you will be part of a close knit supportive team, vital to the overall success of the service. 

Key Requirements

You must hold a current full driving licence and be physically fit and able to carry out the duties of the Job Description- lifting and carrying are essential parts of this post (Suitable mechanical aids and training will be provided). You must be able to organise and prioritise tasks including sorting and identifying items for delivery and be able to carry out visual safety checks and simple practical maintenance on vehicles according to given guidelines.
