Warwickshire County Council provides excellent recycling facilities across the county and we are committed to reducing waste and its impact upon the environment. We are looking for a Transfer Station Supervisor and a weekend Recycling Advisor to join us and help us with this mission.

We are looking for one full time Transfer Station Supervisor based at Hunters Lane Recycling Centre, Rugby and a weekend Recycling Advisor at Princes Drive Recycling Centre in Leamington Spa.

The Role - Transfer Station Supervisor

Full time, Permanent

As a Transfer Station Supervisor you will supervise a small team of staff who will provide excellent customer service to members of the public bringing their items to the recycling centre. You will motivate the team to ensure the Transfer Station is run in a safe, efficient and environmentally compliant manner.

You will be responsible for ensuring the site meets all Duty of Care and other legislative requirements and that there is adequate provision of containers to allow the public to safely recycle and dispose of their items.

The Transfer Station Supervisor is also responsible for the weighbridge, trade customers and ensuring plant machinery is appropriately operated and maintained.


The Role - Weekend Recycling Advisor

Part time, Permanent / 16 hours per week

As a Recycling Advisor you will be working outdoors informing and assisting members of the pubic with the use of the recycling and disposal facilities. Although primarily based at Princes Drive Recycling Centre, Leamington you will provide cover at other recycling centres in the County as required. You will operate and maintain plant equipment; as well as ensuring all areas of the site are kept clean and tidy at all times. We are keen to develop staff and provide a range of relevant training.

Recycling Centres are open every day of the week and full time staff work an average of 37 hours a week with more hours in the summer than the winter and working 7 days on, 2 days off, 7 days on, 2 days off, 7 days on, 3 days off. The part time role is for 16 hours mainly at weekends only with occasional additional hours during the week.

Key Requirements

To be successful you will have experience of working with members of the public and have a real interest in waste minimisation and recycling. Working at a Recycling Centre you will have the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a small team. Used to working outdoors and in all weathers, you will be capable of physical, manual work and operating machinery. In addition it is important you are flexible in your approach and happy to work on a shift basis.
