The role

Salary: OPS4 - £24,392 to £27,917 per annum (Team Supervisor, Street Scene – City Centre)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Worcester City Council’s Environmental Operations Team. We are looking for an experienced Supervisor with excellent knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for environmental management, leading a team delivering front line services and working to ensure Worcester is a tidy, colourful and safe city. 

We are looking for someone with the relevant supervisory and environmental services experience to join our team on a permanent basis. As part of our new Street Scene team, the post holder will be responsible for planning and delivery of essential front line services.

The successful applicant will be leading a team of front line staff working in Worcester, maintaining our City centre and at times supervising teams working in other parts of the city. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to design their team’s work program as well as helping to lead the review of the City’s Street scene strategy for the future.

A key part of the role will be the ability to deliver high quality of customer service to residents of Worcester City and dealing with queries from members of the public as well as partner organisations.

 

Key Requirements

The post holder will have good working knowledge of Health and Safety, organisational skills and experience working in busy front line environmental services. They will be able to work under pressure and with a good level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills and willing to undertake any necessary training to fully complete the role.

Skills and Experience

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge and experience in IT and keyboard skills. Worcester City Council places a high priority on Health and Safety legislation; candidates should also be able to provide evidence of continued development in this area.

Experience of managing change and implementing service improvements would be a real benefit as we strive for excellence across all of the services we deliver.


Applicants must be physically fit to complete all duties and the successful candidate will possess good operational knowledge needed to deliver safe and efficient environmental services.

A full UK driving licence is required

The hours of work are 37 per week, to suit the needs of the service which may include some weekend working.
