An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Travel Trainer, to deliver practical travel training to clients of varying ages with disabilities and or learning difficulties, in The City of Wolverhampton Council’s Pupil Services Team.

The Pupil Services Team are responsible for home to school travel assistance for eligible children that have difficulty getting to school.

We are seeking a Travel Trainer who is passionate about the opportunity to make positive contributions to the development of young people: Key responsibilities will include:

Working with individual clients to allow them to make independent journeys. Completing all necessary associated paperwork. Full training will be provided.

• Assisting with the delivery of the Independent Travel Training programme in learning establishments

• Working with parents/carers to promote the travel training programme and to gain their support.

• Promoting positive messages about the impact and benefits of the service.

• Work within the office as required to assist with administrative type duties for which full training would be given.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with young people or vulnerable adults with learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities. Although Training and development opportunities are available including Open Awards accredited ‘Level 2 in teaching skills for independent travel’.
