Youth Offending Service Officer
Join us as a Youth Offending Service Officer and you will be joining an experienced multi agency team comprising professionals from the local authority, police, probation, education and health.
You will undertake assessments of young people who are subject to Out Of Court Disposals and Court imposed Criminal Orders to understand the reasons why they have offended.
You will then work in partnership with the young person, their parents and carers and other relevant professionals to devise and deliver a plan of intervention aimed at reducing their risk of becoming involved in offending again.
You will undertake group work with young people, complete reparation and offending behaviour programmes.
You will act as an appropriate adult for young people that have been arrested, ensuring that their rights are represented whilst in police custody. You will also undertake work in court, providing high quality information that enables Judges and Magistrates to deal with young people in the most appropriate way.
The role requires some evening, weekend and bank holiday working.
Experience of working with difficult to engage young people and their families.
Experience of working in a multi-agency setting.
Coventry Youth Offending Service is a multi-agency team established under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. We work with young people, their parents/carers and other professionals to reduce their risk of re-offending. The Youth Offending Services sits with the Early Help and Protection area of Children’s Services and our work is overseen by a multi-agency management board comprising senior representatives of partner agencies which ensures that there is full investment from all partners. In our last inspection by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation, Coventry Youth Offending Service was identified to be “performing well in most areas”.
