TEACHING ASSISTANT (ADDITIONAL NEEDS) - 2 POSITIONS
Full time, 32.5 hours per week, Term Time only.
Contract will last as long as we have the funding to support the children or until the children leave this school, whichever is the sooner.

WE ARE SEEKING TO APPOINT TWO TEMPORARY FULL-TIME TEACHING ASSISTANTS TO WORK WITH TWO CHILDREN WITH ADDITIONAL NEEDS ON A 1:1 BASIS
Details of the role:
- Starting date: 1st February 2019.
- 32.5 hours.
- Teaching Assistant (Additional Needs).
- Level 3, Grade 4, SCP 13 – 16, £17,391 – 18,319 per annum.
- Full time, Temporary, Term time
- Contract for as long as the school are in receipt of additional funding to support the children
About the roles:
Role 1 is to support a child with social and emotional needs.
Role 2 is to support a child who has a diagnosis of autism (ASD).
Both children have EHCPs and the successful candidates will be required to work 1:1 with these children implementing the targets on the EHCP.
For role 2 it is desirable that the successful candidate has had experience of working with children with an autism diagnosis. However, we will provide training for the right candidate.
Requirements for the role:
- NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistant (or recognized equivalent qualification).
- Provide 1:1, small group work to support a child with additional needs and diverse needs linked to their diagnosis of autism.
- Provide structured support, including tutorial support, in accordance with specific work programmes designed and supervised by individual teachers.
- Use specialist knowledge/experience to provide appropriate support to pupils in relation to their individual needs, e.g. behaviour management strategies.
- Involvement in the development and implementation of Individual Education, Behaviour, Support and Mentoring plans.
- Be passionate about working with children who have SEN and be able to assist in their social, health and hygiene development.
- Have experience of working with children with more complex needs (desirable).
- Have knowledge/experience of autism and communication needs (desirable).
Support for the Teacher
- Undertake marking of planned work.
- In conjunction with teacher, record pupils’ progress, provide feedback to appropriate education professionals, e.g. LEA officers, Ofsted Inspectors.
- To support the teacher to develop appropriate learning plans to raise achievement.
- Co-ordinate and organise pupils attending extra-curricular activities/out of school activities under guidance of teacher.
- Provide general admin support, for classroom activities.
