Fixed term contract until February 2020

Minimum of 4 hours per week

We are currently looking for a Senior Sessional Worker who will be required to:

•   Lead the session e.g. managing discipline and compliance during the session, as well as ensuring 
    timings are adhered to.
•   Be responsible for ensuring on call system is contacted where issues would dictate.
•   Direct sessional staff and young people in relation to the outcomes for the sessions and ensuring they are
    adhered to.
•   Be responsible for keys, phones and money for sessions.
•   Motivate staff and young people.
•   Liaise with the Reparation Co-ordinator in relation to session objectives and completion of these 
    objectives.
•   Report all issues and concerns to the Reparation Co-ordinator following the session.
•   Provide written reports to the Reparation Coordinator, detailing the session (attendance, session updates,
    positives and negative).
•   Work weekends and bank holidays. There is also an expectation that Senior Sessional Workers will have
    availability to work over festive periods e.g. Easter, Christmas and New Year as and when required.
•   To transport young people around the borough and of Sandwell.
•   Supervise young people, either on a 1-2-1 basis or in small groups whilst undertaking activities as part of
    their Court Order or Out of Court Disposal.
•   To be involved in activities with young people for the purpose of completing project objectives.
•   To accurately record all work undertook with young people and report to an identified YOT Officer.

No qualifications are needed for this post but specific skills or areas of expertise such as landscaping, carpentry, horticulture, bricklaying arts and crafts, coaching, mentoring, etc is required.

You must have the:

•   Ability to supervise and motivate staff and young people to achieve set objectives.
•   Ability to be a team player and work alongside team.
•   Ability to accurately record information and report back to designated lead.
•   Experience of supervising people is essential.
•   Experience of working directly with challenging young people in a variety of settings is essential.
•   Experience in the supervision of young people in small groups is essential.
•   Experience in dealing with challenging behaviour is essential.
•   Experience of supervising reparation sessions.
