We have an exciting vacancy for an Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy Team within  Access and Prevention . The Access and prevention section provide a co-ordinated asset based approach to keep people safe in the community and promote independence and well being.

This is a community Social Care setting and your role will be to  assess people of all ages in their own homes who have a disability or illness that affects everyday living.

Hours:  37 per week

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who is proactive in their approach and open to change. We have redesigned our Occupational Therapy service and work within a locality based model. We are working within 5 locality teams and operate a duty rota within our teams.

The successful candidate will be working in The Halesowen team and in addition to participating in the duty function will assess people of all ages in their own homes to promote independence This will include assessment for complex equipment and making recommendations for  minor and major adaptations.  You will also be working with the  Home Improvements team and will be responsible for  recommending and developing schemes for Major adaptations or assisting with relocation  within DFG legislation. You will also support Unqualified Occupational Therapy Staff and engage in student education.

We are looking for candidates that demonstrate the value of OT in their practice.

We welcome applications from newly qualified OTs with a passion for a career in Social care and preferable placement experience in a community physical setting. We also welcome applications from those in their final year of study working towards the Degree in Occupational therapy and registration, employment would be based upon successful qualification and registration.

The successful candidate must be able to make effective and efficient travel arrangements around the Dudley Borough and be a Qualified Occupational Therapist  or working towards qualification. HCPC  registration is essential for qualified applicants and will be essential for final year student applicants. Previous applicants need not apply.

Able to manage a caseload.

Able to plan and prioritise.

Able to engage in supervision process.

Support student education.

Engage in a Duty proccess

Experience or placement experience of a community setting including assessment and recommendation for equipment and minor or major adaptation.

Experience of the process of Occupational  therapy.

Experience of Moving and handling assessment and able to make suitable recommendations.

Experience of MDT working

Ability to deliver an asset based approach.

Ability to identify and prioritise risk.
