An opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic Development Management team at Lichfield District Council. Ideally situated in the heart of the Midlands, with our offices based in the historic centre of Lichfield, we are within easy reach of Birmingham and the District includes beautiful countryside including an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This presents a broad range of development opportunities, challenges and pressures for the District.

The Council has a significant growth agenda and a strong emphasis on quality design, and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can contribute towards this.

You will ideally be a qualified planner (MRTPI) or working towards this, with post qualification experience in development management, including within a Local Planning Authority. You should have a good knowledge of the planning system, excellent organisational and time management skills and be a good team player with the ability to negotiate on complex schemes and have good written and verbal communication skills. An appreciation and understanding of urban design principles would also be very useful in this role.

We are looking for someone to work in a senior capacity, ideally at Band I capability (please see attached Job Description & Person Specification), within our busy development management team and your work will include dealing with minor and major applications with an emphasis on contributing towards the Council’s committed development team approach and high quality service.  You will also be required to present at Planning Committee (evening meetings).
