Job Details

The Role

Working at Leamington & Lillington Library, this role is the first point of contact for all users. The post-holder will be an integral part of the team, ensuring a positive experience for customers of all ages. 
You will need to have the enthusiasm to deliver outreach and promotional work, including children's activities which involve singing and telling stories. You should also be able to share enthusiasm and knowledge of books and reading with all ages. 
ICT plays a big role in libraries today so experience of using office packages, the internet and social media is needed to assist our customers when answering enquiries, giving hands on advice and carrying out administrative duties. 
You will not be supervised by a Senior Customer Services Assistant at Lillington Library, therefore you will need to use your own initiative and take responsibility to ensure that tasks are completed and customer needs are met, you will also need to partake in banking duties and locking up the building.

Working hours across the week will be allocated on a rota basis across all our sites. Libraries are open on a Saturday and specific sites also on Sunday. Staff will be required to work weekends and working patterns will be based on the needs of the service and are subject to change.

We currently have one full time and one part time position available.

The full time position will be working hours 37hrs as follows: Leamington Library 9:00- 6:00 pm Mondays & Tuesdays, 9:00-5pm Wednesdays & Thursdays, Fridays at Lillington Library 9:00-5:30pm. Alternate Saturdays 9:30-4:30, when a Saturday is worked Wednesday is given as a day off. 

Salary: £17,391 - £18,672

The part time position will be working 32 hours as follows: Week 1: Leamington Library - Mon: 9:00- 4:00pm, Tue: 9:00-6:00pm, Wed: 9:30-5:00pm. Lillington Library - Thu: 9:30-12:30pm, Fri: 9:30-5:30pm. Week 2: Leamington Library - Mon: 9:00- 4:00pm, Tue: 9:30-5:00pm, Wed: 9:00-5:00pm, Sat: 10:00-2:00pm. Lillington Library - Thu: 9:30-12:30pm, Fri: 9:30-5:30pm.

Salary: £15,040 - £16,148

Sundays as required at Leamington Library, Enhanced rates of pay for Sunday working, plus time of in lieu.

 

Key Requirements

• 4 GCSE passes, grade C or above or equivalent, to include English and Maths. 
• A flexible approach to working hours within the needs of the service. You may also be required to work across any of our local libraries 
• Experience of working with members of the public in a customer service environment 
• Ability to share enthusiasm and knowledge of books and reading with customers of all ages 
• Ability and willingness to deliver promotional activities with customers of all ages 
• Ability to access and support users to access online services such as government websites, application forms, web email accounts and other similar services.
