Supported Employment Officer – Ref: SS42918
Salary G7 £25,212 - £29,614 per annum
Fixed term due to external funding
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our specialist Employment Services team, based within our Adult Social Care directorate to help support the delivery of the ESF-funded Black Country Impact programme.
You will be responsible for providing an efficient, professional and client-focused employability service, specifically to individuals with a disability and adult social care need, including mental health and other long term health conditions.
The role involves managing a caseload of NEET individuals who meet service eligibility criteria, to support them in their journey to secure education, employment or training opportunities. The successful applicant will be required to identify and address barriers, implement key interventions as well as delivering information, advice and guidance to move individuals closer to being work ready.
With highly developed communication and inter-personal skills, you will work closely with colleagues across the council as well as building key partnerships with a range of external organisations, in order to identify and engage with residents furthest from the jobs market.
A background in Adult Social Care, Welfare to Work or Information Advice and Guidance is essential; along with previous experience of working on Employment related initiatives and programmes, with a sound understanding of the key economic and social factors effecting young unemployed residents with a social care need.
Walsall Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Completion of a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check may be a requirement of this post.
For an informal discussion please contact Pete Green, Employment & Provider Services Manager on 01922 658001 or 07535354766.
The position is a fixed term contract ending 31st July 2021.
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
Closing date: 28th January 2019
