Mid-Trent Multi Academy Trust is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated administrator/minute taker, with good secretarial and organisational skills and who understands the responsibility of confidentiality.

Mid-Trent Multi Academy Trust, established in February 2016, comprises of three schools (Colwich CE Primary in Colwich, St Andrews CE Primary in Weston and St Peters CE Primary in Hixon).  The three schools have formed very close links, working together in order to share and develop good practice.  The Trust has a vacancy for a clerk, it is an important position and is an exciting opportunity for you to develop this role and support its committed and friendly teams of Directors, Governors and Leaders.

A good knowledge of how schools and governing bodies work is essential with experience of clerking desirable, training is available.  Candidates should be competent in the use of a word processor, email and internet. You should have an interest in education, be tactful and able to deal with matters confidentially. You should be reliable and have a good sense of humour.

The role includes attendance to take minutes at the meetings listed below, the preparation and distribution of agendas and minutes and management of information such as membership and attendance records. The Clerk is also responsible for advising the Trust Board and its various committees on procedural, constitutional and governance matters.

The successful clerk will need to be willing to work flexible hours due to the variable workload to attend the meetings and carry out other work from home (office space is available at school, please discuss at interview). You will need to be available during the day and evening (times can be flexible) in order to attend the following:

  • 3 full board meetings of the Directors per year (usually afternoons)
  • 3 Finance Committee meetings of the Directors per year
  • Members – Annual General Meeting
  • 9 Local Governing Body Meetings  - 3 per school (early evening)
  • 6 Leadership meetings  - Daytime
  • 3 update briefings (1 per term)

The location of the meetings will vary across the schools and so you must be able to travel to all of the schools within the Trust. The meetings will usually be split into approximately 8 per term.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity then please contact Andrew Nield on 07913 631618.

Completed applications should be emailed to
