Warwickshire County Council’s Registration Service is part of the Resources Group. We are committed to excellent customer service and are always looking for ways to improve the way we do things to meet the needs of the people of Warwickshire and beyond.
As well as registering births, deaths and stillbirths, taking notices of marriage and issuing copy certificates we conduct around 2,500 ceremonies a year across Warwickshire in 85 excellent venues approved by Warwickshire County Council.
We’re looking for a Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths to join us.
The Role
14.48 Hours per Week

To register births, stillbirths, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships in accordance with current statute, regulation and instruction. It will be on an annualised contract and you will receive 14.8 hours pay each week, the role will require one fixed days of Tuesday (7.4 hours) based in the Stratford office. The nature of the work that we carry out at Warwickshire Registration Service requires this post to be flexible in the hours and days worked. The additional 7.4 contracted hours will be carried out to meet demand across the year and equate to an additional 52 days per annum this is to provide additional cover to the team at times when staffing levels are low, and the post would therefore suit applicants with the flexibility to be available Monday to Friday. The additional working days are arranged in advance with the exception of sickness cover which may be requested at short notice.
Key Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need good administrative and customer service experience as well as a good standard of education. It’s important you have good communication skills both verbal and written with clear and neat handwriting and are able to work accurately with excellent attention to detail. You will be used to working within a team as well as on your own initiative; be resilient, flexible and able to work with people and confidential information with tact and diplomacy. In addition it’s important you have good planning and organising skills, and are able to manage your time effectively and work under pressure. Good IT skills, the ability to travel throughout the county and willing to attend relevant training courses are also required.
