An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Adoption Support Therapist to join our vibrant adoption team. We are a high performing adoption service that provides adoption services to two Local Authorities, Shropshire Council and Telford and Wrekin Council. We pride ourselves on good practice and we are nationally recognised for our timeliness and providing good adoption outcomes for our children. We are looking for an experienced therapist who has experience and qualifications in working with children around neglect, abuse, trauma, attachment and general adoption issues. Examples of suitable qualifications are Play Therapist, DDP, Theraplay or EMDR practitioner, Filial Coach or Therapeutic Life Story Work. to work therapeutically with parents and children who are experiencing high levels of stress and disturbance. Most of these children suffer from an impaired attachment as a result of trauma, abuse and separation. Therefore, most of the time you will engage in ‘one to one’ direct work of assessment, therapy and review.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is creative, enthusiastic and hardworking to achieve positive outcomes and stability for children in adoptive placements.
To apply for this post you will need to possess a recognised therapeutic qualification and have demonstrable experience and knowledge of delivering therapeutic support directly to children and adults. Preferably you will have experience and knowledge of looked after children systems, child protection and adoption.
The Joint Adoption Service are currently in the process of forming a partnership with Staffordshire Council and Stoke on Trent Council in relation to Adoption and permanency in line with the Government’s Regionalisation of Adoption agenda.
