The Governors of Holy Family Catholic School are seeking to appoint a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic Learning Mentor to join our friendly, hardworking team from March 2019.

We are looking for an energetic, adaptable and committed individual to offer support and guidance to pupils who experience difficulties with their learning. As a mentor, you would work closely with pupils who are struggling with social, emotional or behavioural problems that affect their ability to learn. You will work alongside teachers and other staff, working out the needs of children who require help and how to overcome barriers that are preventing them from achieving their full potential.

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Mentor who:

•Can form excellent relationships with pupils and parents.
•Is fully supportive of the Catholic ethos of the school.
•Is a good team player who is willing to contribute to the ethos and fully participate in all aspects of school life & the wider community.
•Has a good knowledge of local Safeguarding policy and procedure.
•Can Liaise with staff to identify children who would benefit from mentoring .
•Helps children who are under-performing in school either on a one-to-one basis outside the classroom or within lessons implement strategies and support learners in self-esteem and confidence-building activities.
•Listens to learners and helps them resolve a range of issues that are creating barriers to their learning.
•Draws up agreed action plans with children, outlining the aims of the mentoring, and monitors the progress, attendance and punctuality of pupils.
•Visits parents at home to discuss issues, and run group sessions and workshops for parents at school that will advise parents on behaviour strategies and parenting skills.
•Liaises with relevant professionals and individuals, e.g. educational psychologists, the police and social services.
•Organises drop-in/ 'offload' sessions, where pupils can discuss particular issues
•The ideal Mentor will also be able to drive and have access to a vehicle with business insurance as the post may require you to do outreach work with children and families.

Working Pattern 35 hours per week 5 days a week 8.30 am - 4.00 pm (1/2 hour lunch) 39 weeks a year
