This vacancy is subject to a 'Golden Hello'. The successful applicant will receive a one-off payment equivalent to one month’s basic salary on completion of a six-month probationary period.

Sunfield School and Children’s Home, part of the Ruskin Mill Trust Group is a thriving independent special school and children’s home, set within 58 acres of idyllic parkland and nestled on the slopes of the Clent Hills.

Sunfield provides innovative and experiential education, developed out of the inspiration of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin and supports young people (6 – 19 years) with complex learning needs, including autism and PDA.  On-site resources include a state-of-the-art sensory integration suite and family accommodation, along with resident carers, teachers, psychologists, therapists and healthcare professionals.

We are now looking to appoint a Residential and Education Support Worker to work closely with the children and young people, helping them to feel safe, respected, confident and capable of achieving their best. Enabling their family to feel understood, informed, supported and reassured. 

The role of Residential and Education Support Worker is a duel role based in the classroom and in the home to support and assist the children and young people in all aspects of their daily lives. The role also includes some personal care.

The successful candidate will ideally hold either QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People and/ or NVQ Level 3 Diploma for Teaching and Learning in School and will be committed to becoming duel-qualified.  Prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate;

  • A patient, caring, compassionate and child-centred approach.
  • Excellent observation skills and the ability to problem solve and think creatively to enable our children and young people to reach their full potential.
  • Emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in challenging situations.

This position would suit practitioners with care experience who are looking to develop their career. Nevertheless if you are looking to pursue a career in care, education or psychology you will join a friendly and supportive team that excels in the career development of its staff.

This is a full-time position within our 24/ 7 services and staff will need to work according to a flexible rota (including weekends and bank holidays).
