Hours: 37.0 Hours per Week

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our community Occupational Therapists Team working across the Solihull borough, visiting service users in their own home.

You will support members of the Occupational Therapy team including delegated tasks such as:

  • Completing assessments of individual need, carrying out appropriate interventions and the supporting administrative tasks
  • Visiting, assessing and providing advice to service users in their own homes and at OT clinics;
  • Liaising with other organisations such as NHS;
  • Issuing equipment as appropriate,
  • Referring for minor or major adaptations and progress work, and ensuring all interventions are documented accurately and on a timely basis.

You will have:

  • An NVQ 3 in Health or Social Care OR equivalent Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject and equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • You will have 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above (Grades 4-9) including Maths and English Language OR equivalent competency in literacy and numeracy to meet job requirements (Competency will be measured by relevant testing).
  • Excellent communication skills in order to build relationships with service users, families, carers, Occupational Therapists and other disciplines within the team and community.
  • The ability to demonstrate a person-centred approach in their dealings with service users and respect equality and diversity of all service users and team members.
  • Experience of prioritising and organising their own workload. This would be under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist

Previous experience of working alongside OTs would be desirable.

Being able to travel within the Borough is an essential requirement of this post, so you must have your own, reliable, means of transport (reasonable adjustments will be made where required).
