The Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit (CCU), based at Stafford Fire Station supports organisations across Staffordshire in preparing for, and responding to Emergencies as defined under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. In addition, we deliver a range of planning, training and advisory functions, all of which are aimed at helping to build the overall resilience of Staffordshire.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, organised person to design, maintain and deliver credible and appropriate Civil Contingencies exercises in order to validate emergency plans and the capabilities and skills of multi-agency organisations and their representatives.

Applicants should have experience of designing and delivering multi-agency civil contingencies/emergency planning exercises and/or validating emergency and business continuity plans. They should be able to demonstrate an ability to work with senior managers as well as practitioners from multiple stakeholders in order to develop complex exercises. 

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, to be flexible in approach and be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative. He or she should also have a good understanding of how Category 1 and 2 responders operate and engage in a Civil Contingencies environment.
