The Role

An opportunity has arisen for the right individual to join Warwickshire County Council’s highly regarded and successful Trading Standards Service.
The successful candidate will have post-qualification experience of managing a varied caseload across a broad range of trading standards legislation. This will include complex investigations and proactive enforcement projects, along with the provision of consumer and business advice.
Warwickshire is a diverse county and includes both rural and urban areas. This leads to a broad range of trading standards enforcement work from doorstep crime, rogue trading and scams, food fraud and illicit sales of tobacco, to product safety, weights and measures, petroleum/explosives licensing and animal health and welfare and feed work.
Warwickshire Trading Standards Service is located on the outskirts of Warwick and has its own free parking. A Flextime Scheme is in place.

As a minimum, applicants must be qualified in at least four areas of trading standards work. There is no stipulation as to which areas but the emphasis is on finding a candidate with the right balance of initiative, flexibility, good work ethic and sound judgement along with a commitment to provide an excellent service to Warwickshire’s residents and businesses. The Job Description and Person Specification describes the requirements of the role.

Extensive experience in planning, delivering and reporting on complex projects is important, including managing the project resources and budget.
Experience of conducting business inspections, investigating consumer complaints, providing business advice and taking formal samples.
You will need advanced communication skills sufficient to represent the service to a wide range of stakeholders.
