We have achieved an outstanding grade in our last 5 Ofsted inspections and in our last 2 inspections, the latest of which was February 2015, we were graded as outstanding in every single aspect of the inspection.

Wilson Stuart 6th Form offers an exciting and unique opportunity, we have well-established vocational partners and our 19-25 LIVE Programme, in partnership with University College Birmingham, provides a fully inclusive vocational education, designed to get students into employment.

We also have a 40 place mainstream nursery offering all year round (AYR) childcare provision from 8:00am – 6:00pm.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for the nursery pupils to utilise our schools’ extensive facilities, including a

25m swimming pool, sensory and soft play rooms, and extensive outdoor space and play equipment, which makes for a superb environment to support teaching and learning.

We recognise the importance of teamwork and this is evident through all aspects of the work we do. Our students are delightful, work hard and are keen to learn and the school is a very happy and positive working environment. Visitors instantly recognise the positive atmosphere in the school as soon as they arrive. We have a comprehensive induction programme and friendly and very supportive staff along with excellent facilities and a superb environment to support teaching and learning. Wilson Stuart School is not just a special school – it is an exceptional school!

This is a tremendous opportunity to join the Team of a five-times “Outstanding” Academy school. Wilson Stuart is an all-age Special School (2-25) school with a highly successful track record and a national reputation for innovation and development. We are a Lead School for School Direct Teacher training and we also train Teaching Assistants. We have been granted Multi Academy Trust status by the DfE and we are now looking forward to developing our own Multi Academy Trust. Wilson Stuart has several vibrant partnerships and we work very closely with University College Birmingham on a variety of projects, including the development of a vocational training college for 19-25 year olds. The Council is a fantastic place to work. You will find an organisation that is both challenging and supportive; with a leadership impatiently adventurous in its pursuit of excellence.

There is a clear vision which is ensuring that the Council is working for communities today and building for tomorrow, we focus our resources on five key priorities:

  • A Prosperous Birmingham: through a focus on inclusive economic growth, tackling unemployment, attracting inward investment, and maximising the benefits of the Commonwealth Games.
  • An Inclusive Birmingham: through a focus on tackling poverty and inequality, empowering citizens, promoting diversity and civic pride, and supporting and enabling all children and young people to thrive.
  • A Safe Birmingham: through a focus on making the city safer, safeguarding vulnerable citizens, increasing affordable housing, and tackling homelessness.
  • A Healthy Birmingham: through a focus on tackling health inequalities, encouraging physical activity and healthy living, supporting mental health, and improving outcomes for adults with disabilities and older people.
  • A Green Birmingham: through a focus on street cleanliness, improving air quality, continuing the route to net zero, and becoming a city of nature.

We see the Council’s role as providing strategic leadership – that’s being able to visualise a new future for the city and equipping others to share our vision. We want to ensure the provision of services for all, so we can support those least able to support themselves by working with partners and putting citizens and neighbourhoods at the heart of our decision-making.

We are always looking for people who put the customer at the centre of their approach, with a commitment to excellence to help us achieve our vision.  We will support you to develop and thrive in your role, building a pathway for long-term success, with lots of development opportunities, such as apprenticeships.

In return, we offer you excellent terms and conditions, generous annual leave, a great pension scheme, well-being support, annual travel passes and discounts at a number of city centre establishments.
