Dudley is situated in the historic Black Country with a rich heritage, located in close proximity to many towns and cities as well as extensive greenbelt, making it the perfect place to work and live.

We are currently recruiting both planning assistants and planning officers to our growing Planning Services Team

Hours: 37 per week  - Reduced hours may be considered for the right applicant.

Location: 4 Ednam Road, Dudley

The Planning Assistant posts are suitable for graduates who are about to qualify this summer in either a planning (or a related*) degree or from a Planning Masters course. This post is an ideal entry point into a planning career and for those who aspire to undertake a RTPI accredited Planning Masters course this would be funded by the Authority and supported on a day release basis.

The Planning Officer role is suitable for individuals who have experience of a planning work environment within the public or private sectors.

We are looking for individuals who are working towards or are eligible to become, a qualified Town Planner and are able to deal with a caseload of varied planning applications, appeals and pre application enquiries. There is also the opportunity to work on the Local Plan Review as well as the development of area action plans to support the regeneration of the borough. You would be working within a high performing planning service which consistently ranks within the top 10% nationally for application performance.

Planning Services operate an agile working environment which allows employees to work from home up to two days per week and offers flexible working time with the ability to accrue flexi-time leave.

Season tickets for car parking facilities is provided along with mileage allowance.

The planning assistant post has a leave entitlement of 27 days and the Planning Officer role 29 days, both rising by 4 further days after 5 years continuous service

The service offers a supportive environment with the ability to experience a wide variety of work streams and application types within an experienced and diverse team. The ability to continuously develop professionally is a strong part of the planning services ethos and is actively encouraged.

* A related degree could be, but is not exclusive to Geography, Environmental Sciences, and Built Environment etc.
