Human Resources (HR) Manager

Location: Trust Central Office, Sherwood Business Park, Annesley, Nottingham

Salary: Grade £39,867-£43,282

Contract: 37 hours per week / 52 weeks per year

Esteem Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) currently comprises of six special and two alternative provision (pupil referral unit) academies throughout Derbyshire and east Staffordshire.  Formed by a group of like-minded school leaders in August 2018, the MAT is responsible for the education and welfare of approximately 900 students and employs around 500 staff. The total revenue budget for the MAT is £20 million and plans are already in place to expand further.

Esteem Multi-Academy Trust has a well-defined set of values and a clear vision for the MAT to become a regional hub in the Midlands for expertise in SEND and inclusion.  We share a collaborative ethos, believing that our collective efforts will achieve a better outcome than we can as individual schools.

The HR Manager position is a newly created role, which presents a fantastic opportunity for somebody that shares our values and beliefs to join our team at a very exciting time.

This key role, within our central team, will have a full operational remit and will be responsible for providing sound, practical advice to our senior leaders across the organisation.  As we develop our central services, the post holder will be responsible for identifying and implementing improvements to HR and payroll policies and practices, ensuring these are fit for purpose and support school improvement.

Working to and alongside the Chief Operating Officer, you will hold responsibility for leading and managing all aspects of HR and payroll, whether in-house or via external providers.

As an experienced HR professional, with CIPD membership, the successful candidate will understand the central function of HR, be a strong generalist, and have the ability to develop strategic plans and approaches to HR across the MAT.  Experience of working in education is essential, as is understanding and experience of working with trade unions and up to date knowledge of current HR practice and employment law.

The ideal candidate will be able to perform successfully at an operational and strategic level, taking a risk-based, problem-solving approach and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  This will be a challenging and changing environment so flexibility, resilience and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels are pre-requisites.

Benefits include; Local Government Pension Scheme, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, flexible working, 37 hours per week, Staff Welfare Scheme and free parking.

For more information and an application pack, please contact Karen Clarke, PA to Chief Executive Officer, on 01623 859749, via email to kclarke@esteemmat.co.uk or visit our web site at www.esteemmat.co.uk/jointheteam.

Closing date for applications: 12:00 Noon on Friday 1st March 2019

Interviews: Monday 18th March 2019

Esteem Multi-Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its students.    We expect all staff, volunteers and agency staff to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.  The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.

Company

Esteem Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) currently comprises of six special and two alternative provision (support centre/pupil referral unit) academies throughout Derbyshire and east Staffordshire and is growing, with another support centre and special school due to join us in March and June 2019 respectively.  Our central offices are located in Annesley on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border.

Formed by a group of like-minded school leaders in August 2018, the MAT is responsible for the education and care of approximately 900 students and employs around 500 staff.

Esteem Multi-Academy Trust has a well-defined set of values and a clear vision to become a regional hub in the Midlands for expertise in Special Educational Needs & Disabilities and inclusion.  We share a collaborative ethos, believing that our collective efforts will achieve a better outcome than we can as individual schools.  Our academies focus on the holistic needs of the young person, due to students’ vulnerabilities. So, ‘joined-up thinking’, between our academies and different agencies, is essential to deliver the right support for our students.
