The Bridge is an all age special school for pupils with complex/Severe Learning Difficulties. We are a purpose built state of the art facility with outstanding resources co-located with mainstream. Extensive CPD is provided.

THE PERSON
You’re aged 16 plus and interested in starting a career with the Council, perhaps looking for your first job after leaving school or college. You will combine work with training, working towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications while gaining valuable skills and practical experience.

APPRENTICE TEACHING ASSISTANT
Fixed term for 12 months
£3.70 per hour, paid monthly
30 hours 40 minutes per week term time + PD Days + *
(*You will be contracted to work an addition 35.10 hours across the year which will be paid equally via your monthly salary. The additional hours (in your first year only) are to fulfil training requirements. The training sessions (30 in total) will take place on Thursday’s from 3.20pm to 4.30pm and the training schedule will be issued to you by the Training Co-Ordinator. You will be given at least two weeks’ notice of sessions. Attendance is compulsory).

You must not be taking part in full time education, not posses a degree, as we are not eligible to receive funding for those that have a degree and not already have obtained NVQ 2 or 3 in Supporting teaching & Learning or Children’s & Young People's Workforce.

THE ROLE
As a team member of the school, you will work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work, care and support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

THE QUALIFICATION
You will study for a National Vocational Qualification Level 2 Certificate in Children’s & Young People's Workforce and a package of other qualifications.

Supportive training will be provided.
