We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced individual to join the dedicated Parks and Green Space team within Client Services based in Pershore. You will support with the management of parks including 5 which hold Green Flag Awards as well as managing standard public open spaces and verges.

Parks and Green Space Officer

Full Time – 37 hours per week

Salary up to £27,358 per annum 

Working with the Client Services Team, you will work with the Senior Parks and Greenspace Officer on the day to day monitoring and organisation of the work on open spaces, verges and parks including dealing with contractors, forward planning, refurbishment projects, events in parks, play areas, tree and shrub management, GIS mapping systems, budget control and all other aspects of open space management. 

You will be required to record inspections and implement required actions and respond to requests of complaints relating to the Councils parks and open spaces. 

There will be the occasional need to assist with enforcement issue such as abandoned cars, fly tipping and PSPO’s.

The successful candidate will need an RHS Level 3 qualification or similar in Horticulture, or a HND or Diploma in Horticulture or related relevant subject. You will need to have significant experience within a Horticultural based role and have technical knowledge of hard landscaping. 

Previous experience in dealing with customers/public in a relevant field of Horticulture/Landscape would be beneficial plus lots of enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work.    

The successful candidate will need:

  • Significant horticultural knowledge especially for trees, shrubs and grassland management.
  • Experience of monitoring contractors work.
  • Landscape design skills including the ability to survey, draw scale plans and undertake design work.
  • Good IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility and good time management
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience of working in a team and ability to work alone

This post requires the ability to travel through the district to make site visits as well as working outdoors. There is also a requirement for making lone site visits to a variety of landscape sites. The successful candidate will need to be a driver with access to own vehicle available for work at all times.
