About the role:

Are you a dedicated and experienced professional looking for an exciting and rewarding challenge to assist with modernising our police estate?

West Midlands Police (WMP) is the second largest metropolitan force in the UK.  

The Facilities Services section of Corporate Asset Management is pivotal to the successful delivery of the estate programme.  A new post within the department is required to support delivery of the next phase of this programme.  You will be responsible for planning and organising tasking for Facilities Services, working alongside and influencing Facilities Services and other key enabling teams.  You will work with and assist the project managers in delivering the benefits of modernising the police estate.  The funding for this post is up to 2024.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience and a proven track record of supporting Soft FM service delivery 
  • Facilities Management qualifications or relevant experience 
  • Experience and ability to work with the full range of stakeholders 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage a small team to support the delivery of an extensive estates programme that includes decommissioning, renovation and new builds
  • To create and maintain records and inventories during the decommissioning of premises and commissioning of new or renovated sites
  • To procure goods that meet agreed specifications
  • To monitor and modify as necessary, all processes, procedures and safe systems of working, and provide relevant training
  • To seek authority and approval to fund enabling services and provisions required
  • To maintain the integrity of sensitive documents that may require relocation or secure storage during site clearances
  • To maintain and share information as necessary
  • To demonstrate professionalism, ensuring integrity and uphold the Force’s commitment to diversity and fairness
  • To uphold the Police Code of Ethics

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Suitably qualified within a FM background 
  • Significant experience and knowledge of working in an operational FM role across a large multi-site organisation
  • Health and Safety at Work Act and relevant legislation 
  • Proficient use of IT including Word and Excel documents

Desirable skills/qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Certificated  
  • Use of Estates Asset Management systems and CAD drawings 
  • Contract management
  • HR policies and procedures
