Learning Today Leading Tomorrow was set up as a Trust to oversee the development of Rugby Free Primary School in 2015 and Rugby Free Secondary School in 2017.
The Role
As a small but growing Trust, we now seek an experienced strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Central Team to support the CEO and Trust Board in the efficient and effective delivery of the Trust’s strategic aims and objectives and to provide leadership to the Finance Team across the organisation.
This new role, which reports to the Chief Executive, will take over from our high-quality externally sourced finance team who have set up effective and fully operational Trust finance systems. You will deliver additional expertise and experience to support the Trust Executive Leadership Team and the Trust Board. Initially part-time the role is expected to grow and could develop into a full-time Finance Director for a high performing CFO. It is an exciting opportunity for someone who likes variety, has high levels of initiative and is keen to be part of an ever-changing educational landscape.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the Trust finance systems (currently PSFinancials).
- Acting as Finance Officer with regards to dealings with the Education and Skills Funding Agency.
- As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing strong vision and strategic direction to Trust staff and leading the financial aspects of the strategic plan and supporting Head Teachers with their School Development Plans.
- Supporting Head Teachers and the CEO to ensure that all budgetary targets are met by individual schools and the Trust as a whole.
- Supporting new and transferring school projects.
About you:
- CCAB Qualified (CIMA/CIPFA/ACCA/ICAEW) with significant experience of managing, supporting, training, developing and coaching staff.
- Practical experience of presenting complex issues, overseeing and completing budget preparation processes and submission of year end statutory accounts and returns.
- A management qualification, knowledge of academies financial regulations and understanding of ESFA systems is desirable.
- A strong team player with a good sense of humour and the ability to operate calmly under pressure.
Benefits
In return, we can offer you a competitive salary, generous annual leave entitlement and local government pension scheme. The role will start on a part-time basis and although it is a year-round role, we are open to looking at flexible arrangements to support the successful candidate.
