This appointment is a key post, working closely with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and the Governing body. The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to be part of a new structure of leadership in our school. You will be a key contributor in driving school improvement, moving teaching and learning forwards and securing high levels of achievement.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work in accordance with the Teachers’ Pay and Conditions of Employment, the written aims, policies and guidelines of the school.
  • Determine alongside the headteacher and senior leadership team, the strategic direction, development and curriculum provision in the school.
  • Regularly review the school’s curriculum intent statement and all related policies.
  • Support the improvement of standards and achievement in the foundation subjects across school.
  • Work in partnership with other senior leaders to coach, mentor and develop subject leaders in their responsibilities relating to monitoring, evaluation and subject development.
  • Disseminate information, changes and updates to all staff, via staff meetings where relevant.
  • Advise the headteacher on resourcing and budget requirements.
  • Report to the headteacher and governing body on the effectiveness and suitability of the curriculum for children at Blakeley Heath Primary School.
  • Ensure parents are fully informed about the curriculum and lead parent workshops with subject leaders.
  • Organise and manage extra-curricular activities to ensure that there is a broad range for all children to access.
  • Liaise with the p.e co-ordinator and governing body to ensure sports premium funding is spent effectively and has the required impact.
  • Develop the work of subject leaders in order to improve outcomes and ensure continuity, progression and attainment.
  • Develop children’s knowledge of local, national and international cultures.
  • Liaise with the EYFS and subject leaders, to ensure a relevant, cross-curricular and creative approach to curriculum delivery.
  • Ensure continuity and progression in the curriculum from nursery to year 6.
  • Monitor the impact of the curriculum in order to ensure that it is relevant and best meets the needs of the children at Blakeley Heath Primary School.
  • Ensure British Values are embedded throughout the curriculum.
  • Liaise with subject leaders to achieve national awards recognising good practice.
  • Be responsible as educational visits coordinator in ensuring all relevant risk assessments are completed and accurate, including internal risk assessments.
  • Support, guide and motivate colleagues, particularly by disseminating examples of effective practice and organising appropriate continuing professional development.
  • Support the vision, ethos, aims and strategic direction of the school and demonstrate flexibility, when required, to meet the needs of the pupils and the needs of the school.
