Applications are invited for the post of Emergency Planning Officer within the County’s Emergency Planning Unit based in Shrewsbury.
We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic professional with excellent communication and inter-personal skills, flexibility and initiative to join our small team responsible for ensuring that arrangements are in place to ensure that the Council is ready to respond to emergencies
You will be responsible for co-ordinating the county emergency procedures and plans, the development and implementation of training and validation processes, and for consulting and liaising with a wide range of organisations including local and regional government, emergency services, utilities and voluntary organisations. Familiarity with communications technology and IT would be an advantage.
Previous experience in an emergency planning discipline is desirable. You should have an awareness of the current issues facing the public sector in general and emergency planning and the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 in particular.
