Design Services is the Engineering Consultancy Group at Warwickshire County Council. We are looking for a dynamic and confident individual to take on a new role to play a key part in the delivery of the commercial aspects of engineering projects by providing support to the Commercial Manager and Project Managers in the Group.
We are responsible for new roads, junctions and structures in Warwickshire. We also maintain the existing bridges, other highway structures and traffic signals as well as giving structural advice on some County Council owned properties.
The Role
This role is intended to focus on (1) the commercial support to the Senior Managers in the Group and (2) the business systems necessary to enable us to meet our annual financial targets and control the cost of our engineering projects.
You will be providing commercial support to the Engineers responsible for the technical aspects of the design and procurement functions. The work will be varied and require you to be well organised, motivated and demonstrate a good attention to detail.
The main role responsibilities include budget monitoring for Design Services on both income and expenditure. Support the Group Manager and Section Managers with more advanced issues and including the detailed work to establish and provide that advice.
We will require the successful candidate to undertake further study to gain AAT qualifications (probably on day-release at a local FE centre).
Key Requirements
Relevant degree or other qualification to NVQ Level 4 or a minimum of 3 years experience within a relevant specialist discipline as well as the ability to independently interpret and analyse varied and complex information or situations.
