Working in housing can be incredibly rewarding as you can make a real difference to peoples’ lives.
We currently have a diverse opportunity for an experienced officer with housing experience to join our Joint Housing Service which provides a range of housing services across Malvern and Wychavon councils.
Housing Assistant
£19,446 - £23,111 pro rata per annum
32 hours per week
Fixed term Contract to 2nd December 2020
Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you have great analytical and IT skills? Are you a logical thinker and a good communicator? Are you able to negotiate a solution to a problem?
We’re looking for someone to maintain our list of empty homes by interrogating Council Tax systems, liaising with owners, neighbours, planning, community wardens etc. by phone, letter and occasional site visits. To negotiate for empty homes to be brought back into use by offering a range of options and in this way to make best use of the existing housing stock. Also, to be involved with new initiatives to help improve energy efficiency in domestic homes by helping to target our activities towards those households most in need and, when time allows, help with administration support for the team as a whole.
This is a great opportunity for someone to build on their existing skills and to experience a new area of work, developing good working relationships with the team, and helping local people with their housing needs, driving improvements across our service.
This is a 32 hour per week role – work patterns of 4 or 5 days or a nine day fortnight can be accommodated.
You will have a keen interest and sound knowledge of the Housing Service and an understanding of the legislation associated with it.
This post is career graded (Grade 5-6) and starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
Grade 5 – 6 (depending on experience):
- You will need experience of advising and assisting customers on relatively complex aspects of Housing with some focus on partnership working
- The ability to communicate relevant information in writing to customers is essential, seeking guidance where appropriate
- IT skills are also needed as the service has a number of databases to maintain and interrogate
