Scale 6

37hours

2 years fixed term

This is an exciting opportunity to join Telford & Wrekin Council’s Traffic Management Team to provide technical advice and support within the Highways, Transport & Engineering Service area.

Telford a new town has its roots in the 1960s but this doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. Over the last 50 years the town has grown and developed into a hub of innovation and investment.

Telford & Wrekin Council is ambitious, always looking to develop, improve and attract investment. The Council has recently delivered a number of exciting projects including £12m Telford Town Centre Connectivity Package, a £4.5m highways capital programme and £2m Pride in Your Community investment programme. Over the next three years the Council is embarking on a further significant investment programme, will you be part of it?

Working in conjunction with the wider Traffic team, you will develop and implement both permanent and temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO’s may include waiting restrictions, speed limits, one-way orders and temporary road closures), ensuring that the appropriate legislation and regulations are complied with to minimise disruption and provide a safe and free flowing transport network.

As part of this role you will manage and maintain TRO’s and associated systems including public facing website and undertake public consultation on scheme work with a wide range of bodies including the public, Town/Parish Councils, Local Members and senior management.

Are you an experienced Engineer, Technician, GIS user or a recent graduate, looking to work in a forward thinking local authority and develop your and the teams skills? If so, this is your opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering traffic schemes and management of the highway network. Detailed training will be provided to the successful candidate.

We’re not afraid of a challenge – are you?
