Job Details
We’re looking for a trio of experienced, enthusiastic Assistant Communications Officers to join a team right at the heart of a Council and a city at very exciting times.
We are UK City of Culture 2021 and European City of Sport 2019, a host city for Commonwealth Games’ netball and the Rugby League World Cup in 2021.
We are home to amazing events like the Godiva Festival, Motofest and Pride; top professional sport; and a thriving arts, leisure and cultural scene that is growing all the time.
Our city centre is undergoing major improvements; we have two award-winning universities that attract the best students from around the world; a brand new waterpark about to open; and we are famous as a city of peace and reconciliation.
And the Council is changing too, with new offices, hot-desking, flexible working and the systems and equipment to back it up.
Those changes – along with a lot of hard work and a determination to give residents the best services possible – have seen us shortlisted for the LGC Council of the Year award, and an LGA Peer Review praised the obvious pride of staff in their city and their work.
This is a great opportunity for three Communications Officers to be a part of it all.
Assistant Communications Officer (Public Realm) (2 year fixed term)
Our city centre has already been transformed in recent years, but there’s lots more to come. As UK City of Culture 2021, we have a major programme of work to help our city be the best it can be as it welcomes visitors from all over the UK – and build something special for our residents. Work will include reshaping the shopping precinct, improving links across the city and making sure venues and attractions have the best possible setting.
Assistant Communications Officer (European City of Sport) (2 year fixed term)
Coventry is a proud sporting city, and as European City of Sport, we’re not only celebrating our professional stars, we’re getting people to be more active to help their physical and mental health. There are great new facilities like our city centre waterpark and cricket pitches in our parks; and events from peace walks to a Festival of Running. We’re creating a more engaged, active and healthy city – not just for 2019, but for the generations to come.
Assistant Communications Officer (Public Health & Insight) (1 year fixed term)
Our Public Health & Insight Team is leading the drive towards a healthier, more active city and reducing inequalities in health. The team leads work on important projects such as The Year of Well Being 2019, a new Health & Well Being Strategy, tackling obesity, increasing physical activity and improving the lifestyles of Coventry residents. We have a greener city centre with improved footpaths and cycle routes and exciting opportunities to get people healthier physically and mentally through culture and sport as we take the national stage.
These are three great roles that need people with experience of the worlds of Communications and local government, and the skills, enthusiasm and drive to get the job done.
So if you are ready for the challenge – come and join us!
