An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Community Highways team to assist with engaging local communities and their representatives on all matters relating to the highway.

This new role, located in each of the four depot-based teams, will support colleagues in helping county councillors fulfil their highway priorities; assist the Council to deliver its ‘People helping people’ enabler; and to respond to all forms of highway enquiries from councillors, residents and communities. The successful candidate will be well supported by the team, who will provide on the job training and opportunities to gain experience. This role will offer a stepping stone to other roles within the team as opportunities occur in future.

You will be joining a team who are passionate about highways in the communities they support and who are keen to bring about positive change. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills; be able to build strong working relationships; be politically astute; demonstrate resilience under pressure; and be an enthusiastic learner. A highways background/highways experience is desirable but not essential for successful candidates.

Four positions are available for this role, with the successful candidates being posted to one of the following highways depots: Gailey, Lichfield, Stone or Leek.
