Fleet Administration Apprentice– Ref: EE30218
- Walsall Borough
- Pay: National Apprenticeship Rate
- Fixed-term contract for 24 months with a view to extend a further 12 months
- Able to work between the hours between 7.00am and 18.00pm – daily work pattern to be agreed to meet service demands
Working within Clean & Green Services, we are seeking highly motivated individuals who wish to develop a career in fleet / transport services. Principal requirements of the post include to learn, develop skills and undertake clean & green operations including but not limited to:
- Working in accordance with the requirements of the council’s Operating Licence, Transport regulations and legislation, driver handbook, licence checks, working time directives associated within fleet operations
- Operation of fleet and MOT reception areas including taking cash and card payments, dealing with public, taxis (Hackney Carriage requirements), Environmental drivers and co-ordination of schedule / bookings within the MOT bay
- Operating IT systems including bespoke fleet management systems as adopted by the council such as Fleet Wave, Mayrise, tracker systems, licence bureau
- Practical understanding of application of health and safety at work including office, depot facility, stores, workshop and MOT testing station
- Working with third party suppliers / contractors including ordering fleet parts, stock control and liaising with workshop technicians in support of vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Dealing with members of the public, customers, visitors & suppliers both in person and by telephone
The selection process will include a basic initial assessment and an interview during which suitability, commitment and interest for the programme will be determined. To be accepted onto the programme the individual will need to achieve literacy and numeracy at a minimum level.
Applicants must hold GCSE passes in Math’s and English or equivalent.
