Post No: RF317 – 18.5 Hours per week (Mornings)

We are looking for a person with commitment, determination and enthusiasm to undertake a number of duties within the Financial Services section. The successful applicant will have responsibility for providing support and advice across a range of financial service for both Cannock Chase Council and Stafford Borough Council including the preparation of budgets and monitoring and reconciliation of control accounts. We are looking for a thorough and conscientious person with a financial background to work as part of the Corporate Accountancy team.

You will have knowledge of basic accounting principles and professional accounting standards and possess good analytical skills. Ideally you should be qualified to AAT Intermediate (Level 3) or have a similar finance related qualification or the ability to demonstrate equivalent vocational or academical experience.

Experience of public sector finance and practical knowledge of computerised financial ledger systems is desirable. If you are actively studying or a recently qualified AAT Technician (Level 4) then this would also be seen as advantageous.

You will be self motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of a team. You should possess effective oral communication skills sufficient to obtain information and provide clear responses to other departments and external organisations and written communication skills sufficient to compose internal reports and correspondence.

You should be able to use Windows based packages to create basic reports and invoices. You should also be capable of achieving stretching targets and have the ability to work to tight deadlines.

If you would like an informal discussion regarding this post, please telephone 01543 464721 and ask for Alison Kendall.
