Accountant – HRA & Capital
Grade I: £33,136 - £37,107 per annum (Pay award pending)
Post No: RF284M – 37 Hours per week
Maternity Cover – Fixed Term 12 months
Cannock Chase and Stafford Borough Councils’ shared finance service is seeking a qualified accountant. This exciting opportunity offers the successful applicant a chance to be part of an innovative shared finance service working across two neighbouring local authorities.
You will be expected to provide accountancy services for Cannock Chase Council’s Housing Revenue Account services including preparing and updating the HRA 30 year business plan, preparing associated reports to the Leadership Team and members, preparing the statutory accounts and liaising with the external audit team. A knowledge and understanding of Local Authority accounting is therefore essential.
CCAB qualified; you will have previous experience of budget setting, budget monitoring, closure of accounts and Capital accounts along with the ability to provide professionally sound financial information both verbally and in writing to Officers and Members of the Council.
You should have numeracy and analytical skills sufficient to provide financially sound information, and IT skills sufficient to create and amend documents using Microsoft Office Packages such as Word and Excel.
Previous experience of HRA Revenue and Capital accounts along with a CIPFA qualification would also be advantageous.
A Standard DBS Disclosure will be required for this post.
