This post is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2020.

This skilled and dedicated team forms part of the LA’s initiative to reduce exclusions in Primary Schools.  As part of Inclusive Learning Services, the team works closely with the colleagues within this multi-professional service to support young people at risk of exclusion or who have been excluded either permanently or on a fixed term basis.

While there will be an extensive training programme, induction and on-going support from colleagues, when out in schools there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to work both independently and as a team member within school settings.

The post involves:

  • Supporting identified pupils in class, although on occasions it may be appropriate to do   some individual or small group work involving the targeted pupil.
  • Advising school staff on behaviour strategies found to be successful
  • Working closely with the Home School Liaison Officer to support the families also.
  • Working independently and with groups of professionals at different levels. This could involve support staff, teachers or head teachers.

NNEB, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 is required and applicants should have relevant experience in working with pupils with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with behaviour difficulties.

37 hours per week (Term time only)

Salary

Pre April 2019 - Band E, SCP 26-31 (£23,866 - £28,221 per annum) (£12.37 - £14.63 per hour)

From April 2019 - Band E, SCP 18-25 (£24,313 - £28,785 per annum) (£12.60 - £14.92 per hour)
