JOB DESCRIPTION – Part-time Fundraiser

 Reporting to: The Gap Director

 Job Purpose 

  • To support the Gap Director in the development of a fundraising strategy linked to the Gap business plan.
  • To lead on the management, planning and implementation of the fundraising strategy.
  • To manage and develop relationships with funders and supporters in order to maximise short and long term income.
  • To manage marketing campaign through social media, website, posters and leaflets.

 Key roles and responsibilities

  1. To secure funding to ensure the sustainability of the Gap.
  2. To ensure that up to date and accurate information on funders is available on a database, tracking fundraising activities.
  3. To understand the requirements of funders and use this information to develop and produce successful funding approaches.
  4. To ensure that relevant information is communicated to other staff in relation to fundraising, e.g. providing updates on funding applications.
  5. To write reports and maintaining a good relationship with funders.
  6. To work with staff and volunteers to organise a programme of fundraising events.
  7. To support staff and volunteers applying for small grants.
  8. To maintain good relationships with funders.
  9. To represent the Gap at external meetings and other events where appropriate.

       10. To ensure that Equal Opportunities Policy is reflected in all aspects of the work

       11. To carry out office duties and other tasks at the Gap when needed.

       12. To carry out any other duties as agreed with the Director that relate to the aims of The    Gap

 Line manager

The post will be line managed by the Gap Director

Location

The Gap Community Centre, 39 Oakwood Grove, Warwick, CV34 5TD and detached work as required.

 Working hours

The total working hours for the post is 18 hours worked on a flexible basis normally over weekday daytimes, evenings plus weekend work as necessary.

 Annual leave

Annual leave will be 20 days (pro rata) per year plus statutory holidays.

 Salary

Salary will be  £24k (pro rata). The salary will be reviewed annually by the Gap Trustees.

 Training

The Gap actively encourages all staff to develop themselves through professional training and will develop an action plan for training needs on an individual and job role basis.

 PERSON SPECIFICATION

 Skills

  1. Excellent presentational skills in respect of written and verbal communication and ability to liaise with people at all levels.
  2. Good administrative skills. Methodical and organised with attention to detail.
  3. Time management skills, ability to prioritise, work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  4. Able to work on own initiative. A highly motivated self-starter able to work with minimum supervision.
  5. Computer literate. Competent in data handling and word processing skills. Can demonstrate an ability to develop new IT skills.
  6. Research and analytical skills.
  7. Good report writing skills.  Able to produce high-quality documentation.
  8. Good level of numeracy in order to produce forecasts and income and expenditure reports.
  9. Good persuasive skills, capable of obtaining on-going funding.
  10. Imaginative and creative.   
  11. Think strategically and contribute to the overall business plan.
  12.  Liaise and communicate effectively with team members and others.
  13.  Work on one’s own and as part of a team.
  14. Maintain a professional image at all times.
  15. Drive and have a clean driving license is desirable.
  16. Have an enthusiastic and positive attitude towards fundraising.
  17. Work flexible hours when required.

 Experience              

  1. At least two years experience of fundraising, including developing and delivering written and personal approaches to trust funds businesses and personal donors.
  2. Successful track record of securing funding from various sources such as charitable trusts, statutory funds and community events.
  3. Experience in writing reports and maintaining a positive relationship with funders.
  4. Experience of organising community fundraising events.
  5. Experience in monitoring income and expenditure.
  6. Understanding of working in the voluntary sector and corporate fundraising is desirable.

 Educational Achievements                    

Previous fundraising experience is essential. Educated to HNC/HND; NVQ level 4 or Degree level is desirable.
