This is an opportunity to join an experienced and supportive Central Throughcare Team based in Stafford.

We are looking for a personal advisor to work with unaccompanied asylum seeking care leavers, aged from 16 to 25.  This role will include work with other agencies such as housing and benefits to ensure a smooth transition to leaving care at 18.

The worker will be required to help the young person to continue to develop their independence skills, set up their new home, apply for benefits and manage their own tenancy.  They will complete pathway plans with young people which will consider their health, education, accommodation, financial situation, family and friends and identity.

You will be working as part of the Central Throughcare Team and as part of this will be included on the duty rota and will work closely with the other personal advisors and social workers.

It is essential that you have some experience of working with children and young people and desirable for this to be older teenagers or care leavers

Throughcare Teams provide the following services:

  • Working alongside social workers with older Looked After Children aged 16-18 years
  • Direct work with children and young people, their families and carers
  • All aspects of Pathway Planning for young people who are preparing to leave care
  • Advice, support and guidance to young people who have left care
  • Financial support for young people who have left care
