St John’s CE Primary School currently has approximately 420 pupils on role and caterers for around 300 pupils and staff daily. Our service is managed In-house, which enables flexibility with our menus, local food sourcing and the ability to offer a quality meal that pupils will enjoy.

We are now in a position to offer the post of Catering Manager for the right applicant. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our established team and someone who will lead and manage the development of our catering operation, with the support of our catering consultants. As the Catering Supervisor, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a range of creative and innovative ideas for the menus and service, to be successful for this position you must be able to demonstrate an in

depth knowledge of practical cooking on a large scale. You should have previous supervisory experience in a similar role. This role is hands on and the emphasis will be on producing homemade, quality meals, using fresh ingredients.

We are looking for somebody that has a desire to make a difference to our children, who understands how to foster healthy eating habits and can make lunchtime an enjoyable experience. Main Skills and requirements:

• Effective communication skills with an emphasis on engaging with children is essential, as is the ability to lead and work as part of a team.

• It is expected that you will have an NVQ Level 3 in Food Preparation or 706/1 and or 706/2 City and Guilds.

• Level 3 Food Safety certificate

• Allergen awareness is desirable, along with knowledge of the Government Food Standards for education.

• Have knowledge of HACCP, Food Safety and Health and Safety in a kitchen

• You will be required to operate a computer, therefore computer knowledge is also desirable.

As part of the interview process, you will be expected to complete a practical assessment within a given timescale and a short written task. It is expected the interview process will take all day.

This position will be available from: 03rd June 2019, subject to all necessary checks. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
