An opportunity to work at Batchley First School.  We are an inclusive first school catering for children from Nursery age to Year 4, 3-9 years old. We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team and support learning of children in Early Years and Key Stage 2.

Skills

ESSENTIAL:

Experience of working in a school.

Experience of working with children of the first school age (3-9)

A desire to work as a member of a team within a class.

DESIRABLE:

Training or a qualification related to children’s development.

Job Purpose:

  • To assist in development of Individual children under direction of the teacher.

Key Relationships:

  • Staff within Batchley First School.
  • Children.
  • Parents/Carers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To work with supervision and support from the class teacher
  • To support children with their learning under direction from the class teacher.
  •  To participate in the assessment of the children.

Job Description:

  • To assist in classes on a day to day basis.
  • To work with individuals or small groups.

Professional:

  • To be able to identify areas for own personal/professional development evidenced by a personal development plan/professional portfolio developed within a performance management framework.
  • To record progress and next steps in children’s development.
  • To have regard to relevant school policies.
  • To receive and seek support from the class teacher and other TAs  as necessary.
  • To be accountable for own professional actions.
  • To recognise own professional boundaries and to seek advice and support when necessary.
  • To be aware of and adhere to current legislative and employer procedures relating to the post.

Health and safety:

  • You must be aware of and act in accordance with the responsibilities placed on you as an employee by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. You must, at all times, take regard of the health and safety of other employees, patients, service users and visitors.

Performance Management

  •  All staff are expected to participate in individual performance management reviews and the personal development planning.

Confidentiality:

  •  You must maintain appropriate confidentiality of information relating to the school, individuals and patient information. You will be expected to comply with all aspects of the Data Protection Act.
