Job Details

Corley Centre is a secondary special school for children with complex social and communication difficulties. A significant number of students have an autism diagnosis. Student attainment covers the full National Curriculum and GCSE/Vocational range.

 

We are seeking a highly driven, creative and nurturing class teacher to deliver a creative, practical-focused curriculum to a small group of students from Years 10 and 11. Governors are seeking someone to continue the work of the out-going post holder in providing a calm, structured learning environment in which students can develop self-esteem and self-efficacy and move forward in their learning to maximise their true potential. Daily supportive contact with parents will be essential.

 

Students are working towards a range of qualifications including Functional Skills English and Maths, and ASDAN Certificates of Personal Effectiveness and Employability. Incorporating students’ personal interests and linking learning across subjects will be key.

 

Applications are welcome from teachers with at least 2 years’ experience in mainstream or special schools. Applications are particularly welcome from core subject specialists. Experience of teaching children on the autism spectrum is essential. Previous applicants need not apply.
